Ivy
February 21, 2013 When I was growing up, we lived in a house that had the most beautiful green ivy growing up the columns across the front of our house. It added such a nice freshness to the exterior and really added some eye catching curb appeal. Of course, my mother was a master gardener, so our yards always looked like a beautiful park. I remember when we sold that house and drove by it after the new owners moved in. I thought my mother was going to have a heart attack when she saw that they cut down all of the beautiful ivy! It really looked awful and we would cringe every time we drove past it. While this look isn't right for every home, I think it can be really pretty climbing up the exterior of a home like this one below.

I agree that it looks so pretty. I once had a pest control guy tell me that trees and shrubs should never touch the house. I wonder if this would be a problem?
Super pretty though.
LOVE the look of ivy growing on a facade. We have it planted in several places on our house and its starting to take off...gives a home such character. I can imagine your mothers reaction..some people just 'don't get it". Enjoy your day!
Marianne,
I love a house covered in ivy....I think I would have had a heart attack too! It's funny, the curb appeal was probably what sold the house and then they took it away.

I love this Ivy idea because I love all things 'English'! It looks like something you would see in London!
Hi Marianne,
I am WAY behind but I was so excited to open my magazine on the plane and see you right there in HGTV magazine. Just wanted to say it looked great and congratulations!!!!
