Catching Up

I'm finally getting some time to catch up on the stacks of decor magazines I receive each month.  I think I have over 15 subscriptions.  I came across this home featured in Traditional Home located in Aspen, Colorado and immediately fell in love.

Isn't this space spectacular?  Classic with a modern twist.  I'm loving that fireplace and everything else in the room for that matter!

I'd really like to get my hands on one of these.. a cabinet once used to sort monk's mail at an old monastery.

Thanksgiving Table

Thought I'd share my Thanksgiving table place settings with you.  I love using simple, organic, and not too over-the-top items to create a welcoming place at the table.  Fresh herbs and fruit, things you can either find in your yard or at your local grocery store, work perfectly.

This year I took an element I used a few years ago, but always love, rosemary sprigs.  Not only does it look good, it smells amazing!  Just as Thanksgiving should be.  I tied each napkin with a pretty silk ribbon and a paper tag with each guests name.

Under each napkin is a little conversation starter.  This year I found Tabletopics Family Gathering set.  Have you heard of Tabletopics?  It's a lot of fun.  I placed three cards under each napkin for them to answer.  Here's a peek of what's under my sister's napkin.

I also love fresh herbs in a small vase instead of flowers.  While flowers are a great option, herbs just seem fitting for the holiday.  This year I added thyme in some small glass vases I brought back from France.  Simple and elegant.

For another place setting idea, this is what I did last year.  I used pears and tied a simple leaf-shaped tag for each guest's place setting.  I also found these 'I am thankful for' cards at Paper Source.

winter wonderland

It is definitely a winter wonderland here.  Can you believe we were actually colder than the North Pole yesterday?  Crazy!  This is really rare for this time of year. We will not be above freezing until Thursday.

Here's how my outdoor dining table looked when it started coming down.  The winter pansies are so pretty under the snow.  Can you see the snowflakes falling?

I also took a few of the back yard this morning.

I think I'll stay inside today with a hot cup of tea!

I'm so excited to report it's snowing outside!  This is pretty early for snowfall here in the Seattle area, but I love and welcome it.  So what's a girl to do?  How about some stylish accessories to keep warm and toasty?  Here's a little round-up from Anthropologie...
